Joseph Chalfant – Townhall

One voicemail message Chandler allegedly sent to the unnamed member of Congress graphically depicts a scenario Chandler hoped the congressman would imagine where wealth protestors have surrounded his home before “they slit your throat and they slit your daughter’s throat and they slit everyone’s throat.”
Authorities say that Chandler left a second message to the congressman, saying…Read more here.

Florida passes DeSantis’ redistricting map that could net the GOP 4 seats
Gary Fineout and Kylie Williams / POLITICO
TALLAHASSEE, Florida — Florida’s Republican-controlled Legislature on Wednesday passed a new congressional map that could help the GOP pick up four more seats in the state, just hours after the U.S. Supreme Court announced a far-reaching ruling that could reshape redistricting.
The final vote is a significant win for both Gov. Ron DeSantis and President Donald Trump after Trump kicked off a mid-decade redistricting scramble across the country last year. But the new map is also destined to trigger a messy legal battle that could play out in both state and federal courts.
Florida Republican legislators muscled through the map given to them by DeSantis just two days earlier, even as lawmakers were trying to absorb the Wednesday high court ruling. The state Senate took a brief delay to review the decision, and several senators could be seen reading it on their laptops. The map was still approved largely along partisan lines, even though a handful of GOP state senators voted no. .Read more here.

VA Supreme Court Hands VA Dems a Crushing Blow in Redistricting Fight
Matt Vespa – Townhall

Virginia’s new congressional map, which creates a 10-1 Democratic advantage, remains unapproved due to ongoing legal issues with the April 21 referendum. It barely passed, but procedural problems are involved. Therefore, the Virginia Supreme Court rejected a stay filed by Attorney General Jay Jones, which could have allowed the results to be certified as the appeals process continued (via WRIC Richmond):
The Supreme Court of Virginia has denied a request from Democrats and the state to pause last week’s ruling by a Tazewell County judge, which blocked the State Board of Elections from certifying the results of the April 21 redistricting referendum.
A Tazewell County judge declared that the State Department of Elections could not move forward with certifying the results of the April 21 referendum until the Supreme Court of Virginia weighed in.
Then, Democrats and the state requested this emergency stay, which would have allowed…Read more here.

DeSantis under pressure as Florida redraw could tip House balance in GOP map fight
Paul Steinhauser, Andrew Mark Miller / Fox News
All eyes are on Florida this week, as it is likely the final battleground in the high-stakes fight between President Donald Trump and Republicans versus Democrats over congressional redistricting.
A special session of the Florida legislature, called earlier this year by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis to redraw the right-leaning state’s U.S. House districts, kicks off on Tuesday. At stake is which party will control the House of Representatives during the final two years of Trump’s second term in the White House.
DeSantis unveiled his plan for those maps on Monday, Fox News Digital exclusively reported, which shows the GOP gaining an extra four seats.
The back-and-forth continues nationwide debates on gerrymandering and finding partisan advantages through reshuffling congressional districts.
