Raymond Eugene Chandler III has been charged with Influencing, Impeding or Retaliating against a Federal Official by Threatening a Family Member and Influencing, Impeding or Retaliating against a Federal Official by Threat, according to an unsealed affidavit<\/a> from May 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One voicemail message Chandler allegedly sent to the unnamed member of Congress graphically depicts a scenario Chandler hoped the congressman would imagine where wealth protestors have surrounded his home before “they slit your throat and they slit your daughter\u2019s throat and they slit everyone\u2019s throat.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TALLAHASSEE, Florida \u2014 Florida\u2019s Republican-controlled Legislature on Wednesday passed a new congressional map that could help the GOP pick up four more seats in the state, just hours after the U.S. Supreme Court announced a far-reaching ruling that could reshape redistricting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final vote is a significant win for both Gov. Ron DeSantis and President Donald Trump after Trump kicked off a mid-decade redistricting scramble across the country last year. But the new map is also destined to trigger a messy legal battle that could play out in both state and federal courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florida Republican legislators muscled through the map given to them by DeSantis just two days earlier,<\/a> even as lawmakers were trying to absorb the Wednesday high court ruling. Virginia\u2019s new congressional map, which creates a 10-1 Democratic advantage, remains unapproved due to ongoing legal issues with the April 21 referendum. It barely passed, but procedural problems are involved. Therefore, the Virginia Supreme Court rejected a stay filed by Attorney General Jay Jones, which could have allowed the results to be certified as the appeals process continued (via WRIC Richmond<\/a>):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court of Virginia has denied a request from Democrats and the state to pause last week\u2019s ruling by a Tazewell County judge, which blocked the State Board of Elections from certifying the results of the April 21 redistricting referendum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
