On Tuesday, I wrote about the deadly attack<\/a> in Montreal. Since I wrote that, we’ve learned more about what happened, and I swear, just the Not The Bee post on X about it was unhinged…and completely factual. Were it not for the loss of life, it would be hilarious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In that piece, I noted that I expected the calls for gun control to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part of me hoped that anti-gun hysterics would wait until all the facts came in, but I wasn’t about to hold my breath. What I knew in my bones was that, as with every other high-profile shooting anywhere on the planet, some people’s first reaction would be to call for more gun control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While that wasn’t actually a prophetic stretch, I still sometimes hate it when I’m right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While homicides are down almost 19% nationwide this year compared to 2025’s already historic lows, murders are on the rise in Chicago. According to the Crime Index, homicides are 9.1% higher in the Windy City than they were at this point last year. The city saw its worst day of violence since 2024 last Friday<\/a>, and shootings in Chicago doubled last weekend compared to the same weekend in 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chicago Democrats are now calling for a dedicated Office of Gun Violence Prevention at City Hall as a response to the increase in homicides, but as WGN’s Ben Bradley opines, the city already has a host of “alphabet agencies”<\/a> tasked with making the streets safer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CPD, that\u2019s the Chicago Police Department, the CCPSA, the \u201cCommunity Commission for Public Safety and Accountability,\u201d  and then there\u2019s MOCS, the Mayor\u2019s Office for Community Public Safety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the mass shooting in Nova Scotia back in 2020, the Canadian government has stepped up its anti-gun jihad, banning so-called assault weapons and freezing all transfers of handguns. This, as we’ve been told by our own anti-gunners, would make the country safer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately for them, the city of Toronto exists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seems that Toronto is kind of like the Chicago of Canada in that crime is terrible. How bad is it? Well…you might be better off in Chicago.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carney\u2019s legislative focus on honest gun owners, coupled with his assertion<\/a> that \u201cirresponsible American gun laws\u201d enable criminals and illegal gun smuggling into Canada, conveniently divert attention from this dismal state of affairs. \u201cGun control in Canada,\u201d sums up Dr. Gary Mauser, \u201cis based on lies that the Liberals spread about guns and crime,\u201d and chief among them is that measures like gun bans and buybacks will keep Canadians safe. .Read more here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neighbors Speak Out After Gun Owner Kills Home Intruder<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We’re learning more details about a defensive gun use<\/a> in San Jacinto, California that happened last Friday night and resulted in the death of a home intruder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, 45-year-old Israel Martinez was shot and killed after firing a shotgun at the homeowner, who was visiting with neighbors when he heard screams and the sound of a gunshot coming from his home. The sheriff’s department said that Martinez’s girlfriend was also found about a half-mile away from the armed citizen’s home shortly afterwards, suffering injuries she allegedly received after Martinez assaulted her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now neighbors are providing more information<\/a> about the confrontation between the homeowner and Martinez. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“His goal was to get his daughter out safely, regardless of what happened to him,” neighbor Robert Dorame said. “I’m shattered for them because they’re good people.” Read more here,<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
